The Citizen’s Budget Launch 2026 – A Guide to the National Budget 2026

The citizen’s budget is simplified version of the bulky complex and technical national budget initiated since 2018 with support from the Ministry of Finance implemented by the National Council for Civic Education and Democracy (NACCED) using graphic and animation video to communicate the complex national budget in a simple way to the citizen’s especially the illiterate. It’s focuses on revenue streams and how much (tax and grant); revenue expenditures and how much and where. ‘The overall objective of the citizen’s budget is to increase public participation and understanding of the national budget, create multipliers of information and promote transparency” Mr. Joseph M Bindi Chairman-NACCED


Mr. Mathew Dinge – Financial Secretary Ministry of Finance in his welcome address, talked about the US-Israel war on Iran external shocks on the current national budget and the economic response program that will compliment the implementation of national budget that might take three to four months. He cautioned of changes on the current national budget to response to the external shocks.

 

Kadiattu Allie Deputy Minister 1-Ministry of Finance while launching the citizen’s budget- a citizen’s guide to the National Budget 2026 appreciate the Ministry’s team and NaCCED and the Non-State-Actors for simplifying the technical national budget. This budget is bent on internal revenue mobilization hence the budget title: Enhancing Domestic Revenue Mobilization for economic Stability and Improved Service Delivery. Kadiatu Allie launched the Citizen’s Budget 2026.

 

Network Assistance for Illiterate Person’s Development Africa “Network AID Africa” is a strong player in the public finance and economic governance advocacy architecture was invited by the Ministry of Finance through the Non-State-Actor on Public Finance Management on the launch of the 9th edition of the Citizen’s Budget 2026.

 

Questions and answers followed after the launched that climax the launch:  questions on the cost of replenishing the land depleted by mining; cost of reafforestation after logging; the economic shocks reforms not use to buy SUV’s or misappropriated; steps taken on the recommendations of the auditor’s general annual report; managing of the wage bill. Responses to the questions by the Financial Secretary were: mining companies sign agreement of replenishing depleted lands after mines for agricultural purposes; the economic shocks response document will be out soon; more citizens are recruited into the security service means blotted wage bill.
