The Missing Peace: Contributing to the 2nd Independent Progress Report on Youth Peace and Security

The consultations brought together young people organisations across the 16 districts to contributes to the 2nd Independent Progress Report (Missing Peace) on YPS.

 

The Policy Director at the Policy Directorate at the Ministry of Youth Affairs responsible for overseeing policy development and implementation believe the Arman Declaration in 2011 resolution 2250 with 12 thematic areas was essential and still valid with four plus one priorities. YPS road has been developed and the YPS in Sierra Leone is government led that open opportunities for political will and resources. he argued.

 

10 years ago, I sat as expert adviser at the United Nations Security Council. I led the West Africa consultation on the YPS. The global agenda on YPS was catalogue largely with Sierra Leone experience. In Sierra Leone I reviewed the National Youth Policy and it time to review it again. From then to now some structures as been created like the Youth Commission; the Youth Ministry says Chernoh Bah-Minister of Information and Civic Education. Participation needs to include more excluded voices (illiterate persons, persons with disability, “I am happy to be here as young person who is now a Government Minister, it demonstrates we moving but slow and we have left behind on the YPS”.

 

The room was filled by young people who have played and still playing active and critical role in shaping the National Action Plan on Youth Peace and Security

 

Presentations were done by young people as a way of contributing to the 2nd Independent Progress Report on YPS from the missing peace to the implementation of big impact.
